The Field of Honor is one of the most impressive ‘billboards’. The banners are at the front, and street side of the flag display in Merrill Park. They are visible to people passing by in their automobiles and to visitors walking through the field. Walkers and bicyclists on the pathways pass the signage at all times of the day. Each sponsor will have a flag flying in the event so that spectators walking through the field are able to read the ribbons recognizing the generosity of the sponsors.
The Eagle Field of Honor is affiliated with the Colonial Flag Foundation for use as a non-profit organization. The Colonial Flag Foundation is a 501c3 designation which allows businesses, to write-off a sponsorship as a donation. The federal tax id # 47-0926217 and can be used to report your donation.
All of the proceeds from this year’s event will go directly to The Military Order of the Purple Heart Idaho Department & Chief Joseph Chapter 509.
Due to the strict requirement for membership, The Military Order of the Purple Heart is one of the smallest veteran’s organizations in the state of Idaho. Moreover, because of the values and commitment to membership as well as all veterans in this great state, they are one of the most active veteran’s service organizations (VSO’s). Every penny raised goes towards helping Idaho veterans and VSO’s.
The Purple Heart City Program to raise awareness of combat wounded veterans, has grown far beyond our original vision; we now have Purple Heart states, Purple Heart cities, counties, colleges, Indian reservations, businesses, and the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery has even been designated as Purple Heart… The Dept. of Idaho and Chief Joseph Chapter 509 were leaders when it came to getting Highway 84 renamed as the Vietnam Veterans Highway. They were also leaders when it came to getting the Idaho section of Highway 20 was designated as a Medal of Honor Highway.
PURPOSE: Our mission is to foster an environment of goodwill and camaraderie among combat wounded veterans, and to promote patriotism. Our chapter has 203 members, most of whom are from the Treasure Valley. Our main goal is to provide support for our members, all military veterans and their families in need, as well as military-related organizations throughout Idaho.
A sponsorship of the Eagle Field of Honor will be appreciated by the veterans and the currently serving military. Because of technology, the military personal serving overseas can view the Field of Honor and know that they are supported ‘back home’. We welcome the involvement of the employees of the sponsors. There is an opportunity to give back to the community, not only monetarily, but also with volunteers. Sponsors and their employees are welcome to take part in this moving event. From set-up to retiring the flags, there is an opening for anyone to feel the unity of honoring the brave men and women of the United States Military.
